Beneath The Cross

There are moments in life when shame, sickness, fear, or brokenness try to convince us that nothing will ever change. We can spend so much energy striving to fix ourselves, overcome our struggles, or carry the weight of our failures. But the cross tells a different story. The finished work of Jesus was never about us trying harder. It was always about positioning ourselves beneath His grace and receiving what He has already accomplished for us.

The Finished Sacrifice

Romans 3:25 says that God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement through the shedding of His blood. Even in the Old Testament, sacrifices were never random or careless. The lamb had to be spotless. There was intentionality in what was chosen to stand in the place of the people.

Jesus became that perfect sacrifice for us.

As this truth was being reflected on during worship, there was a powerful picture of standing at the foot of the cross while the blood of Jesus flowed down over every broken, wounded, and sinful place. Every failure. Every fear. Every sickness. Every hidden struggle. Nothing is beyond the reach of His sacrifice.

There is no place in your life that the blood of Jesus cannot touch.

Position Yourself Beneath Grace

The New Covenant shifts everything. Under the law, people were constantly striving outwardly to fulfill what was required. But through Jesus, the invitation now is to remain under His finished work instead of trying to earn freedom ourselves.

Sometimes we carry shame over sins we cannot seem to overcome. Sometimes we battle sickness in body or mind. Sometimes wounds from our past continue to affect our present. The enemy loves to whisper that things will never change.

But the cross speaks louder.

Healing, restoration, cleansing, and freedom are found in remaining beneath the finished sacrifice of Christ. His grace is sufficient for every wounded place in our lives.

Healing for Mind, Body, and Soul

Isaiah 53 describes the suffering of the Messiah and the power of what His sacrifice would accomplish. It reminds us that by His stripes we are healed. That healing reaches far beyond the physical body.

Sin damages every area of life. It affects our minds, emotions, relationships, and peace. But Jesus came to bring restoration to every place sin tried to destroy.

There is no wound too deep for His grace.
There is no struggle too strong for His mercy.
There is no broken place beyond His ability to restore.

Whatever feels unrighteous, broken, or heavy today can be brought beneath the cross.

Where Mercy and Justice Meet

In the Old Testament, the mercy seat represented the place where the justice of God and the mercy of God met together. Something had to satisfy justice, and in His mercy, God presented Christ for us.

Jesus fulfilled what we never could.

Because of Him, we no longer have to live under condemnation or fear. We do not have to agree with the voice of the enemy that says we will always remain trapped, defeated, or broken.

Instead, we can say:
“I know where I am positioned. I am beneath the finished work of Christ.”

Receive What He Has Finished

Freedom is not produced by striving harder in our flesh. It is received by faith.

Sometimes the most important thing we can do is pause long enough to picture ourselves standing beneath the cross again. To bring every burden, every wound, every fear, and every struggle to Jesus and allow His grace to wash over us.

His sacrifice was complete.
His mercy is sufficient.
His blood still covers everything.

And beneath His grace, there is freedom.
